The Priors Dental Practice is hosting a range of fun and interactive experiments as part of an oral health awareness campaign for families at this year’s Staffordshire County Show.
The award winning private practice has teamed up with a science workshop company to host the activities on Block Q stand number 244 between 10 am and 3pm on the 1st and 2nd June at Stafford County Showground.
The activities will take place to mark National Smile Month and will include fun experiments such as ‘elephant’s toothpaste’ and ‘bones go blob’ based on teeth, healthy eating and dental hygiene.
Fun activities with a serious message
Lindsey Edwards, practice manager at The Priors Dental Practice comments: “As part of our stand at the show this year we’re excited to be offering more opportunities to experiment and learn, giving families the chance to talk to children in a fun, interactive way about what teeth are, how to look after them, and what will happen if they don’t take good care of them.”
The Priors Dental Practice will attend the event as part of their work to support National Smile Month, which runs from 16 May to 16 June and is the UK’s largest and longest-running campaign to promote good oral health.
Lindsey explains: “Whilst the stand will be a lot of fun, there is also a serious need for us to support local families by providing really good information and advice about oral health and sugar consumption for children. The Local Government Association (LGA) recently revealed that the number of tooth removal procedures amongst children over the last five years has grown by more than a quarter. Latest figures show that there were more than 40,970 removal procedures carried out on under-18s in 2014-15 compared with 32,457 in 2010-11*.”
